Jetty Error 503 service unavailable after fresh install

Hallo,

I am new to OpenNMS and did today an install just like described here:

http://www.opennms.org/wiki/Installation:Debian

The only differences are the OpenNMS Version (mine is 16.0.0-1) and it seems that this version of OpenNMS doesn't support Java7, so I installed Java8. Everything went fine and I had no errors, since I try to login via web-browser. Instead of a login page I receive a:

HTTP ERROR: 503

Problem accessing /opennms. Reason:

    Service Unavailable

Powered by Jetty://

I did a few goole searches and came about this:

http://issues.opennms.org/browse/NMS-4330

issue.

So I did an uncomment of the "pollerBackend" as described in the woraround (at this moment I noticed that I have the service-configuration.xml file twice. One in /etc/opennms/ and one in /var/lib/opennms/etc-pristine/. So I modified both) and moved the opennms-remoting folder.

But still getting the same error.

Anybody with an idea, how to troubleshot this further.

Thanks in advance

Werner

Actually, I solved the problem. I run it by eclipse jetty plugin.

  1. I didn't have the JDK lib in my eclipse, that's why the message keep showing that I need the full JDK installed, that's the main reason.

  2. I installed two versions of jetty plugin, which is jetty7 and jetty8. I think they conflict with each other or something, so I removed the jetty7, and it works!
