How do I stop daily dataCollectionFailed alarms on dead nodes?

0 votes

For some reason, I get alarms on nodes that are down. On a daily basis (every night around 02:30) I get one uei.opennms.org/nodes/dataCollectionFailed for each of these nodes.

Alarm text:

SNMP data collection on interface x.x.x.x failed with 'Timeout retrieving SnmpCollectors for x.x.x.x for / x.x.x.x: SnmpCollectors for x.x.x.x: snmpTimeoutError for: / x.x.x.x '.

I want to keep these "dead" nodes in the database since they might be switched back on again. It’s not a big issue but since I really like the “Nodes with Pending Problems” box, it’s annoying.

What have I missed in the configuration?

You can add a category based filter to your datacollection config and mark your "deadnodes" with a category.
