Is harddisk monitoring (vm guest) with vmware feature possible?

Sure, I can do it with net-snmp (linux) or snmp service / snmp informant (windows) on guest operating system. But is VMware / the VMware feature able to do this, too?

The vCenter knows the assigned storage devices and measures the performance data. The vCenter has no idea about the how virtual machines are partioned and how they are mounted in the virtual machine. The single hard disc can not be monitored by the VMware feature. The following documentation on VMware gives a good overview which metrics can be collected and how they has to be interpreted: https://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-51/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.vmware.wssdk.apiref.doc%2Fvim.PerformanceManager.html
