Database problem causes 503 error

I've got an odd problem... we did the install of opennms and have started configuring and categorizing the nodes, with no problems. Then we decided to add the snmp monitoring and added the snmp plugin. Immediately, the web interface died, returning a 503 error. If I return to the blank database (no modifications to /usr/share/opennms) obviously all the work is gone, but the web UI runs fine. With the "new" database, the status shows it's running even when the web UI is returning a 503 error... Can anybody help us out? Where to look?

Thanks in advance!

can you please describe what you mean with "... added the SNMP plugin..." OpenNMS has SNMP capabilities built in so I'm wondering what did you have installed? Otherwise, can you check the jetty.log and web.log file for Exceptions when you try to load the page? You can use tail -f and try to load the page.

for SNMP there is an SNMP plugin that had not been installed initially (from the repository)... unfortunately neither web.log nor jetty.log threw exceptions when we tried to connect... and ultimately, given we have student (aka slave) labor, we decided to rebuild... rebuilding is a whole lot faster than doing it the first time!
What command do you have issued to install the "SNMP plugin"? So I understand correctly you reinstalled OpenNMS Horizon. Does the problem still exist? Do you have used the install script from here: https://www.opennms.org/en/install or what installation guide did you follow?
