capsd / provisiond confusion

Hi,
Under a node under

Home / Admin / Provisioning Requisitions / Edit Requisition

I see that the list of services that is displayed in the Service popup is coming from capsd-configuration.xml. This is totally confusing me, as the documentation seems to indicate strongly that this interface is for driving provisiond, which is touted as a replacement for capsd! Why is this popup displaying data from capsd-configuration.xml?

Also, for capsd-provisioned (heh) nodes, there doesn't seem to be a way to add a service after the fact, because the necessary plugins are missing (see http://issues.opennms.org/browse/NMS-3651 which states that capsd lacks certain plugins, including one for BSFMonitor).

On a related note, what are the plans to retire capsd and fold its functionality into provisiond, including updating the documentation with a migration strategy if needed? The current split between the two is needlessly confusing - either they should be made to coexist properly or one should be removed. The current state is confusing to new users for no real long-term benefit.

Thanks,
Jos

First of all: Which OpenNMS version are you using?

There is no gui to configure capsd.

All frontends in

Home / Admin / Provisioning Requisitions

are used for provisiond. eg. node definitions or detectors (which replaces the capsd config).
